For those unfamiliar with "etching", it is an ancestral form of printing, before we had the printing press. This image was first created on a copper plate by scratching off a protective medium. The prepared plate was then bathed in acid to carve out the grooves which bear the ink. Each page is then manually put through a presser, leaving a series of *nearly* identical prints. "Rooted in Ecstasy was printed in India alongside a veteran fine art printmaker.

About Etching:
Etching is an ancient form of printing dating back to the Medieval ages. This process involves metal plate (in this case, copper) on which an image is etched using acid. Ink is placed in the incision and forced into paper using a high pressure printing press. It's a highly physical process that requires precision and diligence.

I learnt the method during a fellowship in India, where this run came to be. The image is largely inspired by the amazing banyan trees that propagate through vines that entangle to form the trunk of an offspring tree.
